Once you make the commitment to cleaning up your home, the biggest issue is how to get it done thoroughly and quickly. Here are some ideas that will make it quick and easy. 1. Shower Door Cleaning - When it comes to shower doors, getting them clean can be difficult. Use white vinegar. It will always do a better job than any commercial product. 2. Getting Grout Clean - One of the more aggravating aspects of a bathroom is cleaning grout. The best cleaning choice is lemon oil and borax. Mix the two together until you get a paste. Smear it on the offending areas, let dry, scrub off and rinse. 3. Putting the Shine in Glass Covered Paintings - These days, many people protect paintings or pictures with a glass cover. First and foremost, do not use water to clean the glass. 4. Candle Wax in Carpet – If you get candle wax in your carpet, grab the iron and a brown bag. Place the bag over the wax and apply the iron. The wax will melt into the bag. 5. Clean Muddy Carpets – Unless you are a hermit, muddy carpets are a fact of life. To get it out, wet the mud, sprinkle salt on it and then vacuum about an hour later. 6. Scrubbing to Music – Distractions can be a beautiful thing when you are doing something less than fun. To get through a big cleaning project, try putting on some music. Even better, try listening to a comedian. It will make the time pass quicker. 7. Fireplace Ashes – When it is time to clean fireplace ashes, the best approach is to use a dustpan and large garbage bag. The ash is fine, so go slow. Once done, use a portable vacuum to get the remaining material out. 8. Dirt on Ceilings – Despite the best efforts of gravity, dirt and dust will get on your ceilings. Put on some goggles and wipe the ceiling with a mop. Definitely wear your cleaning clothes for this one. 9. Cleaning Kitchen Floors – There is a particular procedure for cleaning kitchen floors. Sweep first, then mop, then sponge mop. Gets them gleaming every time. 10. Mixing Cleaning Products – Cleaning products are chemical mixtures and should never be mixed. The chemical in one product may react with those in another. Burns and explosions are possible. You spend more time in your home than anywhere else. Cleaning it top to bottom every so once in a while makes absolute sense. After all, who wants to live in a dump?
